Travelling directly from Iran into South East Turkey was going to be too easy for Rai and Stephie so we decided to go via the Kurdistan region of Iraq. ....Iraqi Kurdistan has been semi-autonomous from the rest of Iraq since 2005...it's a pretty safe place where American forces are considered heroes. We hate boring, slow border crossings so we were pleasantly surprised when it took us a mere 20 minutes to get all the formalities sorted out. We both got a 10 day visa for FREE.....bargain! I was even asked to play a tune on the guitar while they searched my bags and then we all watched on a mobile phone the winning goal of Cristiano Ronaldo against Barcelona...a very chilled out border crossing!
